We've had a lot of Star Wars 7 news and leaks on the blog in the past month, so it seems good that Oscar Isaac did this interview with Entertainment Weekly because we can get a bit of his insight as well. For those of you who've forgotten, Oscar Isaac is an actor who was cast for the new movie during the first casting call. His role in the movie is, obviously, unknown at the time, but based on his reputation and background we expect that he'll get a lot of face time in the new movie. Anyway, let's have a look at the interview and see what he had to say about the latest Star Wars 7 news that were leaked over the past few weeks.
The first question that Entertainment Weekly asked Oscar was about what his role in the movie means to him and how much importance he thinks it will have for his career moving forward. His response was rather "diplomatic" and he said the following:
Alright, now that we've broken the ice, let's have a look at more interesting question. Isaac was asked a more personal question by interviewer who wanted to know if Oscar had much interaction with Hamil, Fisher and Ford in his personal time. He was also asked about his relationship with director J.J. Abrams. The answer was as follows:
A lot of fans in the Star Wars community interpreted this as a sign that Isaac might have an important role in the movie since he is getting to spend time with the original trio. This, however, is very debatable in my opinion and it doesn't really prove much.
And the final question of interest was when he was asked to talk a bit about the recent Star Wars 7 news and leaks that have come out. While there was no mention of the Chrome Trooper leak, there was a bit of attention dedicated to the leaked Star Wars 7 set photos that showed us the new X-Wing and Millennium Falcon. Oscar said the following:
Alright folks, that's it for today (nothing really exciting happened this week). However, we're working on an interesting piece that will be out in a few days and we can assure you that it is a good little Star Wars 7 news blog post so be sure to follow us for updates on that!
The first question that Entertainment Weekly asked Oscar was about what his role in the movie means to him and how much importance he thinks it will have for his career moving forward. His response was rather "diplomatic" and he said the following:
I’ve never been good at those kinds of calculations. It’s more like, if I get something and I read it and I think that there is something to do here or it’s different in some way or, like, that’s a psyche I’d like to inhabit—it’s more about that. It’s impossible to know what you’re going to get, you know? That’s how I look at it.Personally, I think that Oscar isn't being very honest with us. I believe we all understand that a role in Star Wars: Episode VII will have a huge impact on everyone's career, especially on someone such as Daisy Ridly who has never appeared on TV or in theaters. Besides, this is freaking Star Wars, you know what you are getting into!

Isaac was asked a more personal question by interviewer who wanted to know if Oscar had much interaction with Hamil, Fisher and Ford in his personal time. He was also asked about his relationship with director J.J. Abrams. The answer was as follows:
Yeah, I have. Both. They’re such funny people. Carrie is hilarious and doing such cool work. Harrison is back. He went on hiatus for a little while, but he’s 150 percent back. It’s pretty amazing to see him bounce back. He looks incredible. Everyone’s having a really good time. J.J. sets that tone. There’s a lot of enthusiasm and it’s being done with a lot of heart. There’s nothing cynical about the way we’re doing this. Even the in way he’s shooting it—he’s shooting on film and actually building the sets, so you’ve got hundreds of Stormtroopers or whatever, and hundreds of extras and all the ships. You actually see it. It’s all real. Everyone can interact with the world.
A lot of fans in the Star Wars community interpreted this as a sign that Isaac might have an important role in the movie since he is getting to spend time with the original trio. This, however, is very debatable in my opinion and it doesn't really prove much.

People want to know all those special things and when those iconic moments are going to happen, but if all that gets revealed beforehand I feel like it robs people of that moment when they’re sitting there watching it for the first time.We have to agree with Isaac here, spoilers are certainly a horrible thing. However, this is a fanbase that has existed over over 20 years and been through a lot of stuff when it comes to the franchise. Everyone feels like they deserve to be in on the story and we can't really blame them.
